A captioned clip from a podcast episode
Turn one minute of an audio episode into a square video with the show's name on top and every word captioned, with the two speakers told apart.
A podcast is sound. To post a minute of it you need a picture: a canvas with the show's name, the episode title, and the words as they're said. That's a video with an audio track, two texts and captions, and Claude Code can make it from one ask.
You need a workspace with Claude Code connected (see Your first cut) and one episode as an audio file in your library. Audio costs 1 credit a minute to analyse, a third of what video costs, so an hour-long episode is 60 credits.
Find the minute
Where in ep-12 do we talk about the pricing change? Give me the sentence it starts on and the one it ends on.
Claude Code reads the transcript and answers with the words and the times. Adjust in words, not seconds:
Start one sentence earlier, where she says "the thing nobody expected".
Make the video
Make a 1:1 video called Ep 12 pricing from that stretch of ep-12.m4a. Put "The Build Show" at the top in the Modern favorite for the whole clip, and "Ep 12 · The pricing change" under it, smaller.
Claude Code makes a square video with the audio clip on an audio track and two texts on a text track. The picture is black behind the texts. Drop a still of the two of you on the video track if you have one, or ask:
Put cover.jpg on the video track for the whole length.
Caption it, one speaker per bar
Caption it in the Airy Caps style, in the middle of the canvas.
The bars come from the episode's words, cut by the rules in Settings. A change of speaker ends a bar, so the two voices never share one. Open the Bars tab to read them. Fix a name the transcript got wrong by hand, or:
Wherever the captions say "Sara" it should be "Sarah".
Check and export
Show me a contact sheet.
Look for a bar that sits on the show's name. Move one or the other:
Move the captions down a little so they clear the title.
Export it at HD.
The MP4 lands in your Movies folder. Square plays everywhere. Ask for 9:16 for Reels and the texts and captions keep their places.
The next one is faster
The episode is analysed once, so the next clip from it costs nothing to find:
Same layout, but the minute where he explains the churn number.
